With the option of a 3-day, 3-night London Extension you’ll also have an opportunity to visit the Churchill War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum as you get to know the heart of the UK.

Professor Harold Goldberg

Harold J. Goldberg, the David E. Underdown Distinguished Professor of History, is the author of D-Day in the Pacific: The Battle of Saipan, Europe in Flames, and his newest book Daily Life in Nazi-Occupied Europe. He teaches courses on Russia, China, Vietnam, World War II, and Socialism. Dr. Goldberg has traveled extensively across the world including Europe. In July 2020 he will lead this tour to visit the sites of WWII.

Day by Day

  • Depart from Atlanta International airport on an overnight flight to Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
  • Arrive in Amsterdam and be greeted by your Tour Manager. Start your tour with a visit to the Resistance Museum and Hollandsche Schouwburg Memorial. Then take to the water as you enjoy a special Welcome Dinner canal cruise at night.
  • Start the day with a visit to the Anne Frank House & Museum before a special WWII-focused guided sightseeing walk through the old part of Amsterdam. After a lunch break, you will have the opportunity to meet the daughter of a Holocaust survivor. Hear her story about the ramifications of war and make the most of the chance to ask questions directly.
  • Travel to Berlin by train. Arrive in Berlin and enjoy a Tour Manager led introduction walk of this important capital city. Get a 360-degree view of the city during your Reichstag Dome tour. Dinner at night.
  • Spend the morning on an expert-led guided sightseeing tour of Berlin. Then make the most of your included entrance to the Jewish Memorial and the Topography of Terror.
  • Time to hit the road as you transfer to Nuremberg. Visit the Documentation Center Nazi Party Rally Grounds as well as the Nuremberg Trial Courthouse. Dinner at night.
  • Travel to Munich with a stop-off along the way at the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Once in Munich, you’ll discover the city center on a WWII-themed guided sightseeing tour before having dinner in one of the oldest brewery restaurants in Munich’s old town.
  • Make the most of a full day excursion to Eagle’s Nest, the Third Reich-era mountain-top building which was used exclusively by members of the Nazi Party for government and social meetings. Free evening in Munich.
  • Fly from Munich to France and transfer to Caen, Normandy. Dinner in Caen at night.
  • Visit the D-Day Museum of Caen before heading to the beaches. Today you’ll pay your respects at Pointe du Hoc, Longues sur Mere Batteries, the American Cemetery, and Omaha Beach before heading back to Caen in the late afternoon.
  • Start the day with a visit to the Airborne Museum (Sainte-Mère-Église) before your entrance to the D-Day Museum in Arromanche, and two museums as part of the Bayeux Museum; the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy and the Bayeux Tapestry Museum.
  • Travel east to Paris via Giverny, a village in the region of Normandy where the Impressionist painter Claude Monet lived and worked from 1883 until his death in 1926. See the artist’s former home and elaborate gardens where he produced his famed water lily series with your included entrance to the Fondation Claude Monet Museum. Carry on to Paris and acquaint yourself with the city via a WWII-focused guided sightseeing tour led by an expert local guide. Then see the city from a different angle with a relaxing Seine river cruise in the evening.
  • Spend the morning at the Army Museum (Musee d’Armee) before enjoying some free time in the afternoon. Re-group at night for a very special Farewell Dinner.
  • Transfer to the airport to board your return flight back to the USA.

3-Day London Extension

  • Travel on the Eurostar speed train to London. Enjoy an expert local guide led sightseeing tour of the capital of the UK with an included entrance to St Paul’s Cathedral. Devour a delicious dinner at night in central London.
  • Spend the morning visiting Churchill’s War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum. Catch your breath with some afternoon free time.
  • Make the most of a free day in London to visit the many museums, see Buckingham Palace, visit the Tower of London or however you would like to. Gather back together for a special Farewell Dinner at night and recap on everything you have seen and done… where has been your favorite?
  • Transfer to the airport for your return flights back to the USA.

• 3-day London Extension supplement is in Twin/Double room accommodation and is added on to your total tour price. For single room accommodation the extension supplement is $1,524
• Twin/Double room rate is for travelers sharing one room with either two single beds (twin) or a double bed (adult couples only). Solo travelers who chose this option can specify who they would like to share a room with otherwise they will be matched up into room formations based on age and gender.
• Rates do not include excess airline luggage fees, nor transport to/from USA airport.
• Rates are based on no/little fluctuation in the exchange rate between USD and Euros. Should the USD weaken significantly towards the Euro a correction in tour price would be done accordingly.
• The minimum amount of paying travelers is 25 people and 15 for the 3-day London Extension.
